Student Lobby Conference (SLC) Participant
Chosen to participate in an annual event that brings UC students to the State Capitol for the opportunity to develop lobbying skills, learn more about issues affecting students and California higher education, and directly engage elected officials on these issues.
MARCELLA VILLEGAS
Clear Blue Sea Outreach Intern
Marcella interns for an ocean conservancy non-profit in San Diego that is committed to removing plastic from rivers, bays, and oceans through robotic solutions. She runs social media accounts and creates content to gain support and sponsorships for the organization.
GISSEL CORTES
Imperial Valley Society of Outreach and Leadership
Founder and President of an organization that aims to build a relationship between the UC system and the underrepresented Imperial County by providing mentorship through academic programs and workshops designed for the outreach of low-income high school students pursuing higher education.
JENNIFER HARRISON
American Society for Cell Biology Presenter
Chosen to present a research poster at the ASCB 2020 conference. Her project titled, "Assessing the role of SAS-7 in the assembly and mitotic expansion of the centrosome" was featured in the Centrosome Assembly and Function section.
SHARAI BARRERA
Tri-Alpha Honors Society Member
Sharai was inducted into Tri-Alpha, an honors society dedicated to first-generation students who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.
MARISSA TINSLEY
UCSD Global Medical Brigades Volunteer
Traveled to Panama with an organization that supports the holistic and sustainable development of rural communities in countries like Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Ghana.
MARIA BLANCARTE
Global Seminars "Jazz In Paris" Participant
Traveled to Paris, France for a UC San Diego Global Seminar. Gained cultural awareness through getting to experience a new culture, learning about the country's history, and getting to interact with new people.
GRISELDA RUIZ
Publication of a Research Article
Gris co-authored an article entitled, “We Are Becoming Older Women and Then We Have Two Stigmas’: Voicing Women’s Biopsychosocial Health Issues as They Age with HIV”. The article was published in the Journal of Women & Aging.
ELIA PERALTA
Given the Ann Craig Award
This award was granted for Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. With only 5 recipients in the entire graduating class, Elia was the ONLY womxn to receive this honor.

Chancellor’s Associates Scholars Program Recipient
Claudia, Victoria, and Emely earned placement into UC San Diego's prestigious full-tuition scholarship program given to first-year admitted students. This program supports students who have demonstrated "great potential and motivation to academically succeed at UC San Diego."
ALONDRA GIL
Inducted into Tau Sigma National Honors Society.
This honor is granted to students who have transferred to UCSD having completed at least one year at a prior institution and earned at least a 3.5 grade point average or placed in the top 20% of all incoming transfer students during their first term.
